AI-Ready Websites for the Age of ChatGPT and LLMs

Buyers now ask ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Google's AI Overviews before they ever visit a website, and a growing number of AI agents read websites on people's behalf. A site built only for human visitors and classic search can be hard for those systems to read, trust, and quote. We build and upgrade websites to work for all three audiences: people, search engines, and AI.

Why many websites are invisible to AI

Content hidden behind JavaScript

Many AI crawlers read the raw HTML and don't run scripts the way a browser does. A site that loads its text with JavaScript can look empty to them.

Crawlers blocked, or allowed, by accident

Security plugins, firewalls, and robots.txt rules can block AI crawlers without anyone deciding to, or leave the door open when you'd rather it were closed. Either way, it should be a deliberate choice.

Vague pages with nothing to quote

Marketing language gives AI nothing specific to work with. Without clear services, locations, and direct answers, there's nothing worth citing.

No structured signals

Without structured data and consistent business details, AI systems struggle to tell who you are, what you offer, and where you operate.

What an AI-ready website includes

An AI-readiness audit: how your site is crawled, rendered, and read by search engines and AI crawlers

Server-rendered, clean semantic HTML, so your content is readable without running scripts

A deliberate AI-crawler policy in robots.txt, so you choose which bots can access your site

Structured data (schema markup) for your business, services, FAQs, and articles

An llms.txt file and Markdown versions of key pages, so AI agents can read your site quickly

Answer-first page structure: clear headings, direct answers, and specific facts that are easy to quote

Fast, accessible pages with clean sitemaps and canonical URLs

Tracking for AI referral traffic in GA4, so you can see visits that come from AI tools

How we make a site AI-ready

01

Audit how AI sees your site

We check what crawlers actually receive from your pages, and test how AI tools describe your business today.

02

Fix the foundations

We resolve rendering, crawl access, and structure problems so your content is readable and reachable.

03

Add machine-readable layers

We add structured data, llms.txt, and Markdown versions of key pages, and set your crawler policy.

04

Measure and refine

We track AI referral traffic and mentions, and keep improving the pages that matter most.

Common questions

What does AI-ready actually mean?

It means a site that can be crawled, read, understood, and quoted by AI systems as well as by people and search engines: readable HTML, clear structure, structured data, deliberate crawler access, and specific, citable content.

Is this different from SEO?

It builds on SEO. Classic SEO helps you rank on Google, and AI readiness adds the technical and content work that helps AI tools understand and cite you. Our SEO and AI search service covers the visibility side, and this page covers the website side.

What is llms.txt, and does it help?

llms.txt is an emerging convention: a plain-text file that gives AI tools a concise map of your site. No AI provider has confirmed it as a ranking factor, so we treat it as a low-cost helper for agents that read it, not a guarantee. The bigger gains come from readable HTML, structured data, and citable content.

Should I let AI crawlers access my site?

That's your decision. Some crawlers collect content for model training and others fetch pages to answer a user's question, and policies differ by provider. We explain the trade-offs and set your robots.txt to match what you choose.

Can you guarantee ChatGPT will recommend my business?

No. AI tools decide for themselves what to mention, and no one can promise a recommendation. We make your site easier to read, trust, and cite, and we measure whether mentions and referrals increase.

Can you upgrade my existing website, or does it need a rebuild?

Often an upgrade is enough: fixing rendering, adding structured data, and restructuring key pages. If the site can't be made readable without a rebuild, the audit will say so, and we can combine the work with a website revamp.

Do you do this on your own website?

Yes. Our site publishes an llms.txt file, Markdown versions of key pages, and structured data. You can see them at stardance.io/llms.txt.
